Hi there,

I write a weekly column
for the Metro which is a nationally published
(http://www.metronews.ca/column.aspx?id=5680). The column is geared towards young professionals and new graduates learning the ropes in the working world.

The column I'm currently working on is about how to start budgeting. There are a few times in a person's life when their change in income and needs and you need to re-evaluate what you're doing with your money.

When you start working, when you're in university/college and when you get your first full time steady job are generally the times where you should stop and re-evaluate your finances as these are also the times when you can make big financial mistakes. As an expert what are your advice or financial tips that young professionals starting off on their career should follow.

Please let me know ASAP if you are interested in replying to some or all of these questions. I would kindly ask for a response by Saturday evening.

Thanks!

Name, Title etc. :

Questions: My column is geared towards young professionals

1. What is a budget? How do you make one?

2. What are 3 - 5 main tips you can give a young professional starting their career?

3. What are the common mistakes people make when budgeting or creating a budget?

4. Why is it important to learn this skill?

5. Aside from the financial benefits, how else does budgeting and having a handle on your finances affect you?

6. What advice can you give young professionals and soon to be graduates regarding this topic from what you've learned or your personal experience?

Response - yes! I'll send my responses off to you within the next day or two.
