It’s Sunday today, and I’m reminded of a friend who has this belief about the Final Judgement: we are standing before our Creator, who enquires of us this: “I went to a lot of work to create the earth for you. How well did you enjoy it?”
Imagine if Canadians were known for being all over their money. Engaged. Proactive. Getting out of debt. Savvy. Saving. Generous.
I think it’s possible.
I started my own journey with money about 10 years ago, and the people in my company “Your Money by Design” help anyone who wants along the same path. It’s not the usual financial advising/investment stuff. It’s the day-to-day stuff – learning how to manage our money with savvy and a bit of zen.
My underlying belief about money comes from the puritans -lol: surprising, as I’m an Anglican (“high”, with catholic tendencies, but way more liberal) – that money is a social good, not a private possession.
I live in one of Canada’s grittiest neighbourhoods: Vancouver’s gastown/downtown eastside, and wouldn’t live anywhere else. I rub shoulders with the affluent and the addicted. The juxtaposition can’t help but keep me honest. It’s a good way to live.
