Money Coaching Tip, Jan 8: our dollar’s strong – good time to by US goods
Jan 8th, 2010 by nancyzimmerman
We’re nearly at parity again: $100USD will cost you only $103Cdn.
I plan to stock up on etsy purchases. I’m not quite ready to use borderlinx yet – that will happen if our dollar become 10% or so higher than the USD, but we’re not taking the hit we did even a few months back on our exchange rate. I’ll also be looking to buy some stocks in the US.
(Cdn) READERS – are you planning any US purchases? What is your criteria for when to purchase or not re: exchange rate? And do you physically cross-border shop, or use online or …?

Wow – have not being paying attention to exchange rates. But one would think now would be a good time to buy something big, shiny and America!
Unfortunately, I hate the border lineups so I never go shopping that way. But perhaps a little online shopping is in order

Husband and I bought our vehicle in Washington State when the dollar was so good about a year and a half ago. Even with the taxes and travel from Penticton we saved around $7000 dollars!
If I can manage it, I want to buy a CAMP IN MAINE. This, however, is because I am pining away for a camp, not because of the dollar. Sigh.

@harrietglynn there’s so much opportunity – etsy, ebay, audible, amazon, iTunes. All good. All easy.
@Natalie no WAY! That’s awesome. I mean, that’s a trip to Europe – and a luxury one at that – with those savings.
